Accident at Work

Thankfully, the number of people injured, becoming ill, or even being killed as a result of an accident at work appears to be on a gradual slight decrease, with around a ten percent reduction in all accidents, and a five percent reduction in fatal accidents, since 2000. However, there are still over one hundred and thirty thousand people every year suffering injuries as a direct result of an accident in the workplace, and, if you're one of them, you will want to find the best advice to help you become compensated for your loss.

Your first step if you are affected by an accident at work should be, having already raised the matter with your employer, to contact a specialist solicitor. They will be able to advise you on how much compensation you could be entitled to for your type of injury, and for your other circumstances such as time off work. This may help you decide whether any offers from your employer are fair and reasonable. If your employer is unhelpful, then a solicitor will be able to take further action, such as taking the employer to court. This is always avoided wherever possible, although if a court case does arise, you often will not need to attend every hearing. Such advice is usually offered on a 'no win, no fee' basis, meaning the solicitor will not charge you if you lose, so they will consider your case's strength before taking it on. You can usually keep 100% of the compensation, too, as your legal costs will be claimed from the other side.
