Complaints and Disputes 

Complaints and disputes can arise for anybody buying a product or a service in a number of situations, as well as the chance of disputes arising with those around us. Sale of goods legislation exists to protect buyers of any type of goods, regardless of description or quality, with a claim being possible for any product that does not sufficiently match its description. Solicitors are often able to give you quick, straight forward legal advice in cases where you are simply seeking a replacement or a refund of a relatively low value item. However, in some cases, further advice may be required, as you may have the opportunity to issue court proceedings to claim for any injuries resulting from the faulty product, and such advice may, in fact, be available on a 'no win, no fee' basis, eliminating much of the risk for you as a claimant. 

You might also want advice about claiming for certain services, with the most common forms being for motor repairs and for holidays. In some cases, a resolution is made easier by the existence of industry bodies such as ATOL, who can help you if your tour operator becomes insolvent, and may even be able to refund the cost of the holiday. Some solicitors specialise in claims against professionals in exercising their duties - for example, against negligent accountants or surveyors, or even against other legal professionals. While you should expect such cases to be strongly defended, these are also often open to a fast settlement out of court to avoid further professional consequences and damage to reputation.
