Sometimes, it may feel that nothing will help & the odds are stacked up against you. A less than minute scene from Blackadder Goes Forth demonstrates this a little

‘Before we sentence the deceased – I mean defendant’ Blackadder was not looking at a very good defence, especially with Lt George as his lawyer. The mix up came when he wrote a letter to George for a sponge wash bag and to his mother for access to the finest lawyer in the land. Sadly the letters went to the wrong people, with a spongebag despeatched from England and George donning a wig and gown.
